L’Oréal Paris welcomes actress Gillian Anderson as Global Ambassador

L’Oréal Paris has named multi-award-winning actress, writer and activist Gillian Anderson as its new Global Ambassador.

Under the partnership, Anderson stars in the new Age Perfect campaign, helping to empower women over 50 to chase their goals.

"Women are extraordinary; unique, complex, brilliant, beautiful inside and out, at every age. Yet the narrative surrounding women and aging, rarely, if ever reflects that," said Anderson.

"L’Oréal Paris has championed women of all ages for decades, and I’m thrilled to join them as they inspire women to break free from stereotypes and put themselves at the centre of their own stories."

Shot in Paris by American artist Cass Bird, the campaign celebrates living life to the fullest.

It comes as Anderson's activism "deeply resonates" with the core values of L'Oréal Paris, particularly in championing women's empowerment, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Born in Chicago, raised in London and Michigan, Anderson shot to fame as Special Agent Dana Scully in long-running series The X-Files. Her role went on to inspire a new generation of women to pursue careers in medicine, science and law enforcement in a phenomenon that became known as "The Scully Effect".

Since then, she has become renowned for playing strong, independent female characters, attracting acclaim on both stage and screen in productions such as A Streetcar Named Desire, All About Eve, The House of Mirth, The Fall, Sex Education and The Crown, as well as 2024’s films Scoop and The Salt Path.

As a feminist and advocate for reproductive rights, she has also supported organisations like The Feminist Majority Foundation and Planned Parenthood since 1996 and more recently Wellbeing of Women in the UK. Her commitment to women's empowerment is further amplified through her books, WE: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere and Want: Sexual Fantasies by Anonymous, alongside her podcast What Do I Know?!
