L'Oréal sees sales growth across all categories
L'Oréal Group has reported a 20.5% increase in sales to £24.2 billion (€27.94 billion) for the nine months to 30 September 2022.
In Europe, L'Oréal's sales increased 13.7% to £7.2 billion (€8.4 billion), strengthening its position in the majority of countries, particularly Germany, Spain and the UK.
Sales of professional products increased 19.6% to £2.7 billion (€3.2 billion), largely driven by the performance of Kérastase and the sustained growth of Serie Expert by L’Oréal Professionnel with Metal Detox.
Consumer products sales rose 15.7% to £8.9 billion (€10.3 billion). Makeup and haircare spearheaded the division’s success, with key product launches from Maybelline, NYX Professional Makeup, L'Oréal Paris and Elvive.
The L'Oréal Luxe division saw a 22% in sales to £3.1 billion (€3.6 billion), with growth in fragrance and skincare from Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme and Prada. Active cosmetics sales were also up by 31.5% to £1.1 billion (€1.3 billion). La Roche-Posay remained the primary contributor of this growth, with CeraVe being the division's fastest growing brand.
Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal, said: “In a context of unprecedented volatility, marked by the public health restrictions in China and inflation in the Western world, L’Oréal benefitted from its rebalancing strategy, particularly in terms of geographic footprint.
"The global beauty market remained dynamic, and consumers' appetite for beauty products is intact. The combination of a robust business model, agility and the commitment of its teams across the world allowed L'Oréal to again significantly outperform the market and strengthen its position as the world’s No.1 beauty company.
"Despite the current uncertainties, we remain confident in the outlook for the global beauty market, which has again confirmed its resilience; confident in our power to innovate; and confident in our ability to outperform the market and achieve another year of growth in sales and profits in 2022.”
