L’Oréal ushers in new era appointing Harold James as Global Makeup Artist
L’Oréal Paris has crowned Harold James as its new Global Makeup Artist, ushering in a fresh chapter for the storied Parisian beauty brand. James is known for his effortlessly elegant aesthetic, he is French after all, and his ability to channel cinematic glamour through a modern lens.
James, born in French Guyana and raised in Paris, brings more than a decade of expertise working behind the scenes of fashion weeks and red carpets worldwide. From haute couture runways to high-profile celebrity clients, his work is celebrated for its ability to enhance individuality. Now, he steps into the spotlight at L’Oréal Paris, aligning his artistry with the brand’s ongoing mission to champion self-worth and female empowerment.
Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, L’Oréal Paris Global President, said: "Harold James’ work celebrates women’s infinite diversity through makeup. Along with his tremendous capacity for listening to each woman’s needs, he uses his considerable talent to reveal each woman’s individuality and unique worth.
"We welcome Harold to the family, where his innovative spirit and timeless style make him a natural choice to steer the makeup vision for L’Oréal Paris."
James’ creative philosophy is deeply rooted in emotion. He often begins his session by asking clients, "What is your mood today?". His approach to beauty draws on a wide array of influences - from the minimalist elegance of Japan to New York’s urban edge - while staying grounded in the iconic allure of Parisian chic.
He said: "I have loved beauty from an early age. From the start, I had the support of many women who spotted my potential, gave me the courage to develop my craft, and the opportunities to make a career out of my passion.
"My artistic journey continues to be inspired by women – their diversity, strength and determination – and it is the greatest honour to join a beauty brand that is committed to their empowerment, which is fully in line with my values. Joining L’Oréal Paris is an extension of my universe, where beauty, diversity and female empowerment shine bright."
