Lush calls on UK communities to help Co-founder’s litter pick goal
Lush is calling on the public to help reach its goal of collecting 60 tonnes of rubbish across the UK.
First launched in 2018, the total amount of rubbish collected from the 'Leave The World Lusher Than We Found It' initiative currently stands at 37 tonnes, despite facing challenges during the pandemic.
To celebrate Co-founder Rowena Bird’s 60th birthday, Lush has now set a goal of collecting 60 tonnes of rubbish from streets and beaches in the UK.
As part of this, the brand is launching ‘Trash Dash’ - a new online portal where participants can log their litter pick details and have the opportunity to receive random acts of kindness from Lush in return.

Shampoo Bars at Lush
Since its inception, Lush has created various solid products that require no plastic packaging. The brand's other Co-founder and Inventor Mo Constantine invented products such as the shampoo bar in 1987 and bath bomb in 1989.
Despite furthering innovations to reduce plastic production, Lush emphasised that the issue of litter seems "never-ending". It is estimated that two million items of litter are dropped in the UK everyday.
Its 'Leave The World Lusher Than We Found It' initiative is designed to prevent further ocean plastic waste, which is calculated to be 5.25 trillion tonnes.
