Lush scalp care sales soar as 'skinification of hair' trend grows
Lush has revealed that sales of scalp care have increased by 264%, as more and more consumers recognise the importance of taking care of their scalp and strands.
It comes as the 'skinification of hair' trend continues to grow, which is all about treating your scalp and hair with the same level of care as the skin on your body and face.
Capitalising on this trend and the benefits of scalp care, Lush notes that a well-nourished scalp provides the ideal environment for strong hair growth and prevents common problems that can affect the appearance and health of hair.
Co-founder Mark Constantine said: "Scalp health is the number one thing we look at first and foremost in haircare."
Constantine started his career hairdressing and then dove into trichology – the study of the hair and scalp. His experience underpins the products on Lush shelves today.
The brand's line-up includes its viral Roots scalp pre-treatment featuring a triple mint blend of fresh mint, peppermint and spearmint, as well as a scalp balm featuring salicylic acid.
Other products include a Rehab Salty Shampoo, enriched with hand-harvested coarse sea salt paired with fruit enzymes, and a leave-in Super Milk Hair Primer spray.
Lush's commitment to scalp and hair health is also reflected through its standalone hair salon in Brighton, which offers a holistic approach to hairdressing and barbering, including botanical hair washing, head spa experiences, haircuts, henna treatments, hairstyling, a product shop and café.
