Maria Nila achieves B Corp certification
Swedish professional haircare brand Maria Nila has achieved B Corp certification, marking a "significant milestone" in the company’s ongoing commitment to social and environmental excellence.
Administered by nonprofit B Lab, B Corp is a certification that covers over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and impact on the environment.

Maria Nila joins the B Corp movement alongside a number of beauty businesses worldwide under the certification, including The Inkey List, Elemis and Aesop.
With a vision to lead sustainable beauty through innovation for nature, wildlife and humanity, the brand has been certified with a score of 114.3 out of 200.
Through a comprehensive review of its sustainability efforts, and with the support of the B Corp framework, the company has been able to structure and implement improvement measures aimed at enhancing social and ecological sustainability.
By partnering with Plan Vivo, Maria Nila offsets its annual CO2 emissions and has contributed to planting over 280,000 m² of forest in Nicaragua since 2016.
The brand also supports local communities near its offices in New York, Stockholm, and Helsingborg, donating hygiene products valued at over £1,340,000 in 2023 through partnerships with organisations like Amenity Aid and Giving the Basics.
Marcus Wikström, CEO and Chairman of Maria Nila, said: "We are proud to announce this significant milestone that is proof of all the hard work our organisation puts into our journey towards leading sustainable beauty.
"Our initiatives for wildlife, nature and humanity have always been a part of the brand identity and becoming B Corp certified has been our vision for many years."
Founded in a garage in the south of Sweden in 1999, where the entrepreneurial Wikström family started researching and mixing ingredients for haircare products, Maria Nila can today be found in over 45 countries across three continents.
