Molton Brown closes UK stores and offices for annual mental health day
British brand Molton Brown has closed all its UK stores and offices today, 20 January, for its annual mental health day.
The initiative, supported by parent company Kao, attempts to give its team time to "step back, relax and recharge".
"Our website remains open for orders, and stores will reopen tomorrow. Thank you for your kindness and patience," reads a new email from Molton Brown to its customers.
Founded by Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis in 1971, Molton Brown initially started as a hair salon in London.
The brand introduced its first signature scent in 1984 and has since built an expansive collection of signature fragrances, bath and shower gels, home and handcare.
Its annual initiative comes as more and more businesses champion mental health awareness and support, whether through dedicated wellbeing days, partnerships, product launches or charitable donations.
Last week, plastic-free personal care brand Wild teamed up with mental health charity Mind to launch a collection of three exclusive scents designed to inspire tranquility, positivity and renewal. It has also donated £20,000 to support the charity's work in promoting mental wellbeing.
Meanwhile, men's care brand Harry's recently partnered with mental health service Shout, and Guild Gaming, to launch a initiative aimed at fostering mental health awareness within the gaming community. The "Talk Squad" brought mental health support directly into the gaming space, offering 1-to-1 sessions in environments where men feel at ease.
