Kayali – the fine fragrance business launched by beauty mogul and co-founder of the Huda Beauty empire Mona Kattan – unveiled the latest addition to its line-up at an event in London yesterday attended by Kattan and leading retailers including Cult Beauty and Sephora.

Yum Pistachio Gelato combines Kattan's twin passions of fragrance and gelato in a '33' Eau de Parfum Intense, containing "irresistible and edible notes" including creamy pistachio gelato, voluptuous whipped cream, roasted hazelnut, sweet rum, fluffy marshmallow, and fizzy cotton candy.

The 12th scent in the Kayali range, Yum Pistachio Gelato was inspired by a trip to Italy with Kattan's sister and was created by the "father of gourmands Olivier Cresp – and his son, Sebastien - to be as close to the original dessert as possible.

“I wanted to combine my two favourite indulgences, fragrance & gelato! Ever since I can remember, ice cream has been my favorite food and always my #1 choice when asked what would be my last meal! In 2014, I went on a trip to Rome with my sister Alya and discovered pistachio gelato - I have been OBSESSED ever since! Just like the dreamy dessert, I wanted to create something that made me feel yummy, happy and irresistible," said Kattan.

“For this creation we wanted the pistachio as close as possible to the edible version, a charismatic addiction with a strong gourmand and sensual signature," said Cresp, who is a master perfumer at Firmenich, world’s largest privately owned fragrance and taste company.

“To me, the idea of a fragrance that puts the spotlight on pistachio is really unique. Mona wanted a perfume that pushed more and more gourmand as the different modifications went on. We shaped the note together to achieve the result she wanted, an ultra-gourmand creation that makes your mouth water,” Cresp added.

As with all Kayali fragrances, it can be worn alone or layered with others in the collection with suggested pairings including Vanilla, Eden Juicy Apple or Déja Vu White Flower. It is named as a '33' Eau de Parfum Intense as the fragrance went through 33 iterations before being perfected.

The fragrance is available in three formats 100ml (£107), 50ml (£79) and 10ml (£25). The Kayali range is sold via its own website and via a raft of UK retailers including Cult Beauty, Sephora, ASOS and Selfridges. Many representatives from those retailers, along with press and influencers, were invited to the launch of the fragrance at 38 Grosvenor Square where Kattan hosted a "mocktail" event which also served pistachio ice cream, marshmallows, candy floss, bon bons and pistachio-themed canapés.
