Marks & Spencer has announced three senior appointments within its international division as part of the retailer's strategy to accelerate growth overseas.

Victoria Jones has been appointed as Commercial Director for International Operations. Previously holding senior roles at Clarks – most recently as Chief Product & Merchandising Officer – she will oversee the product strategy for Marks & Spencer’s international business across both clothing and food, in an effort to capitalise on the strengths of the UK operation.

The retailer has also named Manish Kapoor as Managing Director of Marks & Spencer India. Kapoor, formerly CEO of Pepe Jeans’ Indian division, brings extensive experience in developing global retail brands and a deep understanding of the Indian market.

Additionally, Richard Davies has been promoted to International Partnerships Director. Previously head of category for brands at Marks & Spencer, he will now be responsible for unifying the franchise and wholesale selling models under a single structure.

All three executives will report directly to Mark Lemming, International Managing Director. Since his appointment last year, Lemming has been leading efforts to revitalise the retailer’s overseas operations following a period of underperformance.

In the first half of the financial year, Marks & Spencer reported a 10.3% decline in constant currency sales across its international division, with operating profit before adjustments halving.

Lemming commented: "The reset of our international business is focused on taking the right time and actions to build strong foundations for sustainable growth. Building an experienced global leadership team is an essential element of this plan and Manish, Victoria and Richard will play important roles, bringing fresh perspectives on our international reset and future growth strategy."

"As we continue to progress with our strategy, I remain confident in the medium and long-term opportunity for M&S to drive global growth."

These appointments come as part of a broader leadership reshuffle at Marks & Spencer. Earlier this month, the retailer announced changes within its Clothing, Home & Beauty division, including the departure of Richard Price, Managing Director of Clothing, Home & Beauty, who will step down at the end of April following a transition period. Former Boohoo CEO John Lyttle will take his place.
