Orean secures B Corp certification
Private label cosmetics manufacturer Orean Personal Care has achieved B Corp certification, covering both its UK and US facilities.
Orean specialises in producing high-end skincare and haircare products for a variety of beauty brands. This includes The Inkey List, which also recently achieved B Corp certification.
Administered by nonprofit B Lab, B Corp is a certification that evaluates a brand's social and environmental impact. It covers over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and impact on the environment.
In its assessment, Orean achieved an overall score of 81.1. To qualify as a B Corp, businesses must score 80 or over. The median score for "ordinary businesses" who complete the assessment is currently 50.9.
Dan Williams, Managing Director at Orean, said: "The team at Orean has worked tirelessly to achieve this and we're now pleased to announce that we are officially B Corp certified. B Corp is a natural fit for us at Orean and so many of the brands that we work with and support. It's aligned with our mission, our values and the foundations we have set.
"Whether you're an existing brand or supplier we're working with, a new brand looking for a UK/US development team/contract manufacturer, or you'd like to talk to us about our experience and see if we can help you, please do reach out.
"Thanks to all those people that supported us during this process, a special mention to Laurie Gerrish who headed this up at Orean and helped drive it through."
Last year, Orean expanded its manufacturing capabilities in the US to help compliment its existing UK facilities. The company said it would benefit UK brands as its allows for freight-cost free shipping across the Atlantic, as well as reduced lead-times and a lower carbon footprint.
