Korean food and lifestyle retailer Oseyo has opened its largest store to date at Eldon Square in Newcastle, expanding its beauty offering as demand for Korean skincare and cosmetics continues to grow in the UK.

Marking the retailer's first location in the North East, the 20,000 sq ft flagship combines Asian groceries, fresh produce, Korean beauty and lifestyle products with interactive experiences including a Ramyun Library, Korean-style photobooths, Japanese claw machines and tasting areas.

The opening reflects the growing crossover between beauty, culture and experiential retail, with K-Beauty increasingly appearing beyond specialist beauty retailers as consumers seek immersive shopping experiences centred around Korean lifestyle trends.

Helen Cowie, Centre Director at Eldon Square, said: “We're delighted to have welcomed Oseyo's largest-ever store to Eldon Square. The significant addition provides our visitors with a distinctive, experience-led format that aligns closely with our ambition to respond to changing consumer expectations and strengthen the destination's overall offer.”

The launch comes as interest in K-Beauty continues to accelerate. According to Credence Research, the global K-Beauty market is expected to almost double in value by 2032, driven by growing demand for multi-step skincare routines, ingredient-led formulations and preventative skincare.

UK retailers have also continued to expand their Korean beauty assortments. Last week, Superdrug extended its International Beauty offering to 64 stores, adding a wider range of K-Beauty brands alongside Indian beauty labels, while specialist retailer Pureseoul continues to grow its physical store estate across the UK.

As beauty retailers increasingly invest in international brands and experiential shopping formats, Oseyo's latest opening highlights how Korean beauty is becoming part of a broader lifestyle proposition spanning food, culture and wellness.
