Pat McGrath collection lands at Kensington Palace’s ‘Crown to Couture’ exhibition
A collection by British makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath is now on display as part of Kensington Palace’s new 'Crown to Couture’ exhibition.
Open until 29 October 2023, the Crown to Couture exhibition is an ode to 18th century Royal Court dress and historic fashion.
Exploring the "intricate process of getting occasion ready", the exhibition draws parallels between the world of the 18th century Royal Georgian court and high fashion of the contemporary 21st century red carpet.
The largest exhibition ever staged at Kensington Palace, McGrath’s artistry and creative vision is the only contemporary makeup business within the exhibition. The showcase is located inside ‘The Getting Ready Room’ within the Pigott Gallery.
The dedicated display includes a reimagined portrait of 18th-century actor, stylist and advisor to the elite, Frances Abington, brought to life by Pat McGrath muses, Vinetria and Meghan.

Commenting on the exhibition, Dame Pat McGrath said: "It is truly an honour to collaborate with Kensington Palace on ‘Crown to Couture’ and be a part of this monumental exhibition. I adore the glamour and magic that can be made creating looks for the red carpet, and I hope this exhibition inspires others to do the same.
"My 18th-century-inspired makeup look isn’t dissimilar to how I approach looks today – beauty is eternal after all. Vinetria and Meghan exemplify the modern-day beauty that Pat McGrath Labs is all about – delicate but decidedly decadent. The women that I choose to represent my brand have all different skin tones and come from different walks of life, but all represent a look of today."
