Pinterest reveals top beauty predictions for 2026

Scent stacking, eccentric make-up, and after-dark aesthetics are among the trends set to dominate next year, according to a new report from Pinterest.

In beauty, the platform predicts that 2026 will be all about breaking the rules. Gen Z and Millennials are embracing asymmetry with mismatched manicures, dual-toned lipstick, and bright, two-toned eyeshadow.

This shift is reflected in searches, with “eccentric make-up” up 100%, “nails with different colours on each hand” up 125%, “asymmetrical lob” up 85%, and “avant-garde make-up editorial” soaring 270%.

Fragrance is also getting a playful twist, as Gen Z and Millennials continue to move away from one-and-done scents and instead opt for bespoke creations, blending oils and perfumes to craft their own formulas.

It comes as interest in niche perfume collections has risen 500%, with searches for "perfume layering combinations" up 125% and "scent layering" up 75%.

Pinterest also predicts a tactile shift in beauty, with gummy-inspired trends such as elastic cheek tints (jelly blush +130%) and rubberised nail art set to dominate.

Other trends include lace, which isn’t just for fashion, with searches for lace-inspired nails up 215%. Meanwhile, Gen Z and Boomers are expected to embrace animal aesthetics with a "delicate touch" - from soft fawn freckles to butterfly wing nail art.

After-dark "Vamp Romantic" aesthetics are also taking centre stage, as consumers embrace jet-black nails, romantic goth hairstyles, and smudged smokey eyes - all with a glossy sheen. Searches for “vampire haircut” are up 40%, “dark romantic make-up” has risen 160%, and “gothic coffin nails” have surged 180% on Pinterest.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Cool Blue trend is expected to bring "subzero sophistication" to everything in 2026, including frosted makeup looks.

Cosmic inspiration is also on the rise. Gen Z and Millennials are experimenting with intergalactic looks, from opalescent “moon dust” eyeshadow (+140%) and cosmic silhouettes to soft, dewy make-up (+115%).
