Sustainable skincare brand REN has met its zero waste pledge, which sees 100% of the brand's packaging now recycled, recyclable and reusable.

Launched in 2018, the pledge was formed in response to the rising environmental crisis, with a deadline set for 2021 to reduce packaging waste - the brand has now confirmed it met the deadline in December 2021.

In its sustainability journey, REN has recycled 45 tons of plastic by repurposing plastic waste from landfill and saved 16 tonnes of plastic from entering landfill by designing packaging to global recycling guidelines, supporting the circular economy to keep waste out of landfill.

From 2018, the skincare brand stopped using single-use sachets, saving 4.4 million from entering landfill or incineration. The brand has also partnered with global activists, The Surfrider Foundation, to clean up beaches and oceans worldwide.

REN Zero Waste

REN's zero waste journey aims to continue into 2022 and beyond, with newly appointed CEO Michelle Brett planning to take the brand's sustainability efforts even further.

Commitments to sustainability include a renewed commitment to packaging alternatives and refillable and reusable solutions, sourcing more sustainable ingredients and looking at DTC shipping and ecommerce to reduce waste through reusable packaging.
