Sam McKnight bottles the scent of his products for latest product launch

Leading hair stylist Sam McKnight has bottled the fragrance of his Hair by Sam McKnight range – devised in partnership with master perfumer Lyn Harris – for his latest launch, The Fragrance (With Benefits). 

The Fragrance (With Benefits) not only delivers a long-lasting scent, inspired by McKnight's garden, but also infuses the hair with conditioning Pro Vitamin B5 and UVA/UVB protection.

When conceiving the fragrance of the Hair by Sam McKnight range, the hairstylist and Harris set out to recreate the scent of McKnight's garden after rainfall, with top notes of green leaf, herbs, water lily, clean pepper, and frankincense giving way to a wet, woody base of juniper and cedar wood.

"For as long as I can remember, the beauty of the natural world has inspired my work," said McKnight. "The one scent that has always captivated me is that of my garden after a rainstorm. I asked Lyn Harris – a renowned British perfumer – to help me capture that moment in a bespoke fine fragrance for my products. It's been talked about ever since, with thousands of customers asking me to bring it to life as a hair fragrance. And now, the wait is over.”

Lyn Harris is one of the UK's most celebrated perfumers, having trained the acclaimed Fragrance House Robertet in Grasse, France. She currently heads up her own fragrance brand Perfumer H. McKnight, pioneer of the 'Cool Girl' aesthetic, launched his haircare line in 2017. The range now includes products including shampoos, conditioners, masks, oils and styling products, such as the cult Lazy Girl dry shampoo and Modern Hairspray.

Sam McKnight was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at TheIndustry.beauty The Innovators Awards and has been awarded an MBE for his services to the hair industry. His haircare range has received multiple awards.
