San Francisco-based sustainable skincare and beauty brand Junoco has raised £5.2 million in a Series A, lead by venture capital firm Vision Plus Capital.

The funding will be used to launch more products that use the brand's signature formulation of 10 ingredients or less, and help develop its green credentials. The brand aims to update its current collection to include more refillable packaging and upcycled ingredients.

Junoco, which has more than 200 million views on social media, sold 500,000 pieces of its #1 bestseller cleansing balm within the first year of launch. It was founded by entrepreneur Kyle Jiang, whose family has been part of the global packaging industry for decades.

"JUNOCO’s mission to move away from the traditional beauty market, which relies on certain standards of 'perfect skin' and standardised beauty, to sustainable, yet simplified formulas, one skincare product at a time," the brand says on its website.

Junoco's formulations are cruelty-free, vegan and forego microplastics. Its packaging is also recyclable and made from FSC certified materials.

Vision Plus Capital was launched by Eddie Wu, the co-founder of Alibaba.
