Seraphine: Mother of fashion labels gives a lesson in looking abroad

“Brexit Britain can be truly global.” It may sound like a rallying cry from a Nigel Farage backer, but these are in fact the words of Cécile Reinaud, a French entrepreneur who has previously expressed concerns about the impact of leaving the European Union on her London-based business.

Her maternity-wear company Seraphine exports 70 per cent of its lines. While 40 per cent of her £23 million turnover goes to European markets, the company is also successful in the United States and Japan, places where many British companies have struggled.
