Shiseido acquires Gallinée

Shiseido has acquired Gallinée to strengthen its Skin Beauty category by expanding into the emerging microbiome segment.

Founded by Marie Drago in 2014, Gallinée specialises in skin microbiome and offers a range of science-backed beauty products featuring a patented complex of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics that nourish and strengthen the skin’s microbiome.

Shiseido believes that Gallinée will be a "complementary yet unique" addition to its portfolio, due to the brand's focus on beauty, wellness and its positioning within the emerging field of skin microbiome.

Following the acquisition, Gallinée will leverage resources across Shiseido's commercial infrastructure, R&D capabilities from its European Innovation Center to lead the development of the skin microbiome within the EMEA territory and cross-functional expertise to continue to drive brand growth.

Marie Dragon will join Shiseido’s EMEA team and continue to deliver product innovation and support Gallinée as Chief Creative Officer. She will report directly to Franck Marilly, President & CEO of Shiseido EMEA & Global Fragrance.

Earlier this year, Gallinée launched an anti-waste operation in the UK, France and USA to reduce the number of beauty products that are discarded as they approach their expiration date.
