Skin Rocks by Caroline Hirons goes plastic neutral
Skin Rocks has partnered with re-Purpose Global to fund the recovery of nature-bound plastic waste used across its products and packaging.
Launched in 2022, Caroline Hirons created Skin Rocks to address her community's asks for support on their skincare journey. Its current product range includes a cleanser, moisturiser and various treatments.
By having products certified as plastic neutral, Skin Rocks said it is "doing its best to tackle the plastic waste crisis, but also supporting waste workers’ incomes by attaching value to hard-to-recycle plastics, and providing safe, stable, and fairly paid employment opportunities to communities through local waste management enterprises".
The brand's partnership with re-Purpose Global forms part of Skin Rocks' wider ESG strategy, including its ambition to reduce impact whilst delivering high quality products.
Where possible, the brand's packaging is readily recyclable or refillable. Additionally, all boxes and cartons are made from an FSC-certified source, with a vegetable-based ink print.
Caroline Hirons, Founder of Skin Rocks, said: "Our mission has always been to offer our customers the most efficacious, high-quality skincare experiences while addressing and supporting their core values.
"We understand the impact of the beauty industry on the environment so want to do our utmost to constantly explore meaningful practices to offset our impact. Though there is more to do, we truly believe in the power of brands to affect long-lasting change."
Aditya Siroya, Co-founder and Chief Impact Officer of rePurpose Global, added: "It is heartening to see Skin Rocks push the boundaries on tackling the plastic waste problem.
"We hope its commitment encourages more brands to take responsibility for the plastic that it is generating."
