Sol de Janeiro has appointed Celine Basanisi Gilg as its new General Manager for the UK and Ireland.

Basanisi Gilg brings experience from senior leadership roles at The Estee Lauder Companies, Puig, Guerlain and L'Oreal.

She most recently served as Managing Director of Luxury, Home & Women Lifestyle Brands at media giant Hearst UK from March 2024 and December 2024.

She left to start her own consulting and advisory firm, a position she held until recently, before taking on her new role at Sol de Janeiro.

In a post on LinkedIn, Basanisi Gilg said: "Such a privilege to join the one brand which has - arguably and in my opinion - shaken things up in the beauty industry like no other!

"The UK team has done an incredible job here in the past three years - there was no script for this success!"

Renowned for its body creams and mists, Sol de Janeiro has made its mark in the beauty industry, inspired by Brazil’s culture and natural ingredients.

The beauty brand first established a reputation with its Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, enriched with ingredients like cupuaçu butter and açai oil, and has since expanded its portfolio to include a wide range of products across bodycare, haircare and fragrance.

Through social media and product visibility, Sol de Janeiro has reached consumers worldwide, and also recently appointed Jordan Saxemard as Global Chief Marketing & Digital Officer.

Saxemard, a French-American executive with more than 20 years of experience in brand leadership, oversees global brand and product marketing, communications, digital initiatives, and consumer engagement strategy.
