Superdrug cuts prices across own-brand suncare range as families struggle with SPF costs
Superdrug has announced a price reduction across its own-brand Solait suncare range as part of an effort to make sun protection more affordable for customers.
More than 25 SKUs in the Solait range have seen price cuts, with several products now starting from £4.
The move comes as research from the Child Poverty Action Group found that almost a quarter (23%) of low-income families reported it was challenging or impossible to afford toiletries such as sunscreen last summer.
Among the changes, Solait Sun Lotion SPF30 and SPF50 200ml and Solait Sun Spray SPF30 and SPF50 200ml have been reduced from £5.50 to £5. Solait Face Fluid SPF30 and SPF50 50ml has dropped from £5 to £4.
Solait Aftersun Lotion 200ml and Aftersun Spray 200ml have also been reduced from £5 to £4, while Solait Kids Sensitive Lotion SPF50 has been reduced from £7.50 to £6.
Alongside the price reductions, the high street giant has introduced new additions to the Solait range, including the Solait Aftersun Aerosol Spray 150ml and Solait Scalp and Hair Spray SPF50, both priced at £5.
Jamie Archer, Own Brand Director at Superdrug, said: "Sun protection shouldn’t be something families feel they have to compromise on, particularly as we head into the warmer months.
"By taking robust price action across our Solait range - including products designed for both adults and children - we’re ensuring our customers can access high-quality sun care that is priced for proper protection, helping the whole family stay protected without having to worry about the cost."
