Superdrug to upsize in Sheffield as part of new expansion plans
Superdrug is opening one of its largest stores in the UK at Sheffield's Meadowhall, reflecting a relocation as the high street giant ramps up its retail expansion.
Set to open in late May, the new 10,199 sq ft store will allow customers to discover the latest trending beauty products, as well as access beauty treatments like ear piercing, manicures and eyebrow threading.
In its new location, the retailer will continue to sit alongside a number of other beauty brands and retailers at Meadowhall, including Boots, Space NK, Kiko Milano, Lush and Molton Brown, as well as a Bath & Body Works concession within NEXT.
It will also be joined by Sephora this summer, which is getting ready to open its first store in Yorkshire at the destination, following the company's continued expansion.
Richard Crowther, Retail Leasing Director at British Land, said: "Superdrug is one of the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30 million in their stores in the last 12 months."
The news comes as Superdrug plans to open 25 new shops this year in a move which will create around 600 new jobs.
The retailer, which currently has 780 shops in the UK and Ireland, will also refurbish 65 stores this year and expand multiple sites, including its shops in Luton and Dundee.
It highlighted that investment in its largest stores in recent years helped Superdrug deliver sales growth of 25%. In January, the company hailed its strongest-ever Christmas after sales increased by 5.1% in the final weeks of 2024.
Growth was also attributed to the popularity of its own-brand ranges during the festive period. In fact, the retailer sold one gift set every second throughout December.
