US-based sun protection brand Supergoop! has launched a "first-of-its-kind" suncream with bioretinol.

The Daily Dose Bioretinol + Mineral SPF 40 contains bakuchiol, a plant-based alternative to retinol. This ingredient works with SPF to give skin the "ultimate dose of protection and anti-aging benefits", helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles and prevent future damage from happening.

Traditional retinoids are often suggested for nighttime use, as they can cause skin to be more sensitive around UV rays. However, the suncream's use bakuchiol means it can be used in the day.

In a comment on Instagram, Supergoop! said: "Traditional retinols can cause irritation and sensitivity to the sun, so they're typically applied at night. Daily Dose Bioretinol's main ingredient is bakuchiol, a clean, plant-based alternative that's gentle enough for daily, daytime use, even for those who suffer with sensitive skin."

In addition, the product features L-Carsonine to help boost collagen and keep the skin firm. It also contains olive esters and glycerin to boost moisture levels, whilst a potent antioxidant blend of grape seed extract, green tea extract and English oak bark extract protects the skin against free radicals.

Founded by Holly Thaggard after her friend was diagnosed with skin cancer in her early 30s, Supergoop! works to create innovative, feel-good skincare and beauty essentials with SPF. The brand first launched in the UK in 2020 and has products available at Cult Beauty, Selfridges and Net-A-Porter.
