The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has been recognised by global environmental non-profit CDP in its 2021 Climate A List.

ELC was scored alongside almost 12,000 companies that disclosed their environmental impact, joining the top 200 high-performing companies on the A List.

The beauty group joins the list for the second consecutive year, highlighting ELC's commitment to climate action and transparency around its environmental impact.

This recognition follows the group achieving net-zero emissions and 100% renewable electricity across its direct operations in 2020. Along with its recent partnership with Pulpex to produce beauty's first widely recyclable paper bottle and joining the ISS Sustainability Challenge as an exclusive partner.

In addition to maintaining and expanding its climate efforts in 2021, ELC also addressed water stewardship and deforestation, as reflected in its CDP Water and Forests disclosure scores.

Fabrizio Freda, President and CEO at The Estée Lauder Companies, said: “At ELC, our climate action efforts are one part of our broader ESG strategy to deliver meaningful impact across the value chain and contribute to a stable climate.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to leverage the strengths of our business to address the challenges facing the communities where we live and work, from environmental issues, to racial and gender inequity, to public health.

"We are honoured to once again be recognised in CDP’s Climate A List and are thankful to our dedicated teams who continue to drive our global sustainability and social impact efforts every day.”

CDP is a framework for disclosing climate-related information to the public. It aims to focus investors, companies, cities and governments on building a sustainable economy by measuring and acting on their environmental impact.
