Guendalina Gennari aka 'The Skin Sculpter' is a renowned facialist and massage therapist specialising in her own massage technique, “The Sculptural Face Lift” with the addition of Buccal massage loved by celebrities.

In this exclusive interview with TheIndustry.beauty's co-founder Antony Hawman,  Guendalina talks about what makes her unique treatments so special, and gives me her views on today's beauty and wellness market.

How did you start your career in beauty?

My career in beauty began in Italy, where I completed a three-year beauty school qualification before working in a spa environment. I later moved to the UK to complete a master’s diploma at the London School of Beauty & Makeup. After graduating, I worked with different brands, trying to understand which direction truly spoke to me. Having struggled with acne for many years, I realised that facial treatments were where my passion - and purpose - really lived.

From there, I immersed myself in advanced massage training, studying different techniques until I eventually developed my own method.

I recently had one of your treatments and it was like nothing I’ve experienced before. I’d really been suffering with tension and lack of sleep and your technique felt like a deep tissue massage for the face. It was incredible!

Can you talk about your unique approach to treatments?

Absolutely - and I’m so glad the treatment made you feel better, because that’s exactly why I do what I do. My approach focuses on working with the ligaments, fascia, and muscles of the face to release tension at a deep structural level. It’s incredibly effective not just for lifting, but also for clients who suffer from bruxism and chronic jaw tightness.

While we offer advanced facials, extractions, and body treatments, everything is built around my massage method. Without that work, I feel the treatment isn’t complete. The body holds tension just as much as the face, and addressing both creates the most transformative results.

You specialise in Buccal massage. Tell me about the benefits.

Buccal massage allows me to access deeper muscles from inside the mouth, making it one of the most effective techniques for releasing jaw tension, improving circulation, reducing puffiness, and contouring the lower face. It’s particularly powerful for clients who clench, grind, or store stress in their jaw.

Your clinic is your storefront. How do you create a gold-standard experience?

Every client who walks through our door is treated as a person, not a “treatment slot.” Many of our clients become friends because we truly take the time to understand them - how they feel, what they’re carrying, what they need.

From the moment they arrive to the moment they leave, the focus is on making them feel special, supported, and heard. That human-first approach is what makes THE SKIN SCULPTER different. It’s not just about glowing skin; it’s about how someone feels when they walk out into the world again.

How do you market your business? Are certain channels better than others?

I’ve been consistent on Instagram since day one, and most of our clients now come from there or through word of mouth - which I believe is the best form of advertising. I’ve never worked with a PR agency, and for now we don’t feel the need. It’s important to me that people find us organically and come because they genuinely connect with what we do.

You treat a number of celebrities - how does that support your business?

Celebrities can make a big difference for a brand, of course, but the most meaningful part is that many of them recommend us privately to people they know. We rarely talk about who we treat unless they choose to share it themselves. That trust — and the fact that they bring others to us — is the biggest reward.

What’s your view on today’s wellbeing and beauty market?

Today’s market is exciting but also overwhelming. There is so much out there, and it’s difficult for clients - and for practitioners - to keep up. We’re fortunate to work with incredible ingredients and technologies, but I do think people jump on trends too quickly. More than ever, consumers need guidance to navigate what’s truly effective.

Do trends shape the treatments you offer?

No - I don’t follow trends. I study, I test, and I need to see real results before offering anything. I keep my approach efficient and minimal because I believe in quality over novelty. I stay informed through research, ongoing training, and conversations with people within the business and scientific community.

What are the biggest opportunities and challenges in the beauty sector today?

A major challenge is that many practitioners are offering the same treatments, which can be confusing for clients and makes it harder for authentic expertise to stand out.

But the opportunity is just as big: this industry evolves every day. There is always something new to learn, explore, or refine. It’s a field in constant transformation, and it’s inspiring to watch how creativity and innovation continue to shape what we can offer.
