British fragrance retailer The Perfume Shop has reported "outstanding" Father's Day sales, with a record 225,397 bottles sold over 14 days in the run-up to the occasion.

This equates to a 4% increase in sales against the same period in 2023 and approximately 11 bottles sold every minute as perfume continues to be a popular gift choice at this time of year.

In-store and online retail sales were also boosted during the 14 days, increasing 10% compared to the previous year.

Dior Sauvage, Rabanne 1 Million, Prada Luna Rossa Ocean and Pascal Morabito were among the most popular fragrance choices this Father's Day, aligning with the retailer's predictions.

With in-store and online services able to add a personal touch to presents as well, The Perfume Shop saw over 1,228 bottles engraved and 30,099 personalised ribbons sold during the 14 days.

Andrea Rickard, Trading Director at The Perfume Shop, said: "Perfume is always and will continue to be a popular gift for Father’s Day. We’re pleased to see that some of the classic fragrances alongside some of our newer scents were within the best-sellers this year. We know many of our shoppers still appreciate value, which is why we had some amazing deals on offer during this busy period."

The trading update follows "strong" Mother's Day sales for The Perfume Shop earlier this year. The retailer reported an increase in sales after shoppers splashed out on gifts sets. This equated to approximately 140,000 bottles sold during 3-10 March 2024.
