The Perfume Shop sees record Christmas sales
The Perfume Shop has reported record Christmas sales, despite both postal strikes and severe weather across the festive period.
The retailer sold a record 1.77 million bottles of fragrance between 28 November and 24 December 2022, boosted by a 26% sales increase in gift sets during the week before Christmas.
Bestsellers included Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Dior Sauvage, YSL Black Opium and Paco Rabanne Invictus.
Online sales peaked on 11 December, reporting a 39% increase against the retailer's biggest online day during Christmas 2021. The Perfume Shop's website received an average of seven orders per minute throughout the festive period.
The retailer’s personalisation services also increased in popularity, delivering over 481,000 ribbons and 32,000 engraved fragrances to customers, up 67% against 2021.
Andrea Rickard, Trading Director at The Perfume Shop, said: “We knew that Christmas was going to be a tough one for people this year and that’s why we wanted to ensure we had lots of fantastic early Christmas deals such as gift sets, stocking fillers and more to help families spread the cost of the festive season.
"With so many fantastic new launches in the last few months, there’s also been more choice and value than ever. Not only are we very lucky to have so many loyal customers who have continuously shown their support over the last 30 years, our hard-working colleagues pulled out all the stops this year to help our customers.”
