The Rolling Stones has launched its first-ever fine fragrance, designed to celebrate the band's timeless legacy with a "fusion of rebellion and refinement".

Developed in partnership with fragrance innovator Nirvana Brands and Bravado, the merchandising subsidiary of Universal Music Group, the scent reflects London’s Soho in 1962, where The Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Marquee Club.

The 'RS No.9' fragrance has been created by perfumer Catherine Selig, who fused top notes of bergamot, lemon, and bourbon with mid notes of worn leather, Labdanum and deep, earthy oak, alongside base notes of patchouli, oud and musk.

"This was a dream project. I wanted to capture The Rolling Stones’ timelessness – their inimitable style, rebellious spirit, and the feeling of freedom their music still inspires," said Selig.

"Every note represents a different facet of the The Rolling Stones’ legacy, from their soulful melodies to their on-stage unpredictability. This fragrance is a journey through their world, filled with richness, texture, and bold contrasts."

The fragrance is housed in an elegant apothecary-style bottle inspired by The Rolling Stones’ RS No.9 store on London’s Carnaby Street, bringing to life the vivid graffiti-style song lyrics that decorate the store’s glass floor in a new form.

Meanwhile, the cap features the British rock band's famous tongue and lips logo created by John Pasche in 1970.

Ken Rushton, Chief Operating Officer of Nirvana Brands, which has steered the project through conceptualisation, creation and development, said: "The Rolling Stones are ubiquitous in popular culture, and their influence on personal style is all around us. So this project has been a delight.

"Bottling the essence of The Rolling Stones in this unique and bold fine fragrance has been an incredible journey - and there is a whole lot more in the pipeline to come."

The ‘RS No.9’ fragrance is limited to 999 numbered bottles. Each 100ml bottle is priced at £99.99, and is available at RS No.9 stores in London and Tokyo, as well as online.
