Dr Ivy Igerc brings over 20 years of medical expertise to her field, holding a doctorate in Dental Medicine and Surgery. An internationally acclaimed practitioner, she has worked extensively not only in the UK but also across Croatia, Slovenia, India, South Korea, Switzerland, Italy, and China. This global experience has given her profound and nuanced knowledge of skin health, making her treatments highly sought after by a discerning clientele. She is now based at 111 Harley St, with her talent recognised when she won the coveted Aesthetic Practitioner/Practice Award at TheIndustry.beauty Awards, standing out in a competitive field.

In this exclusive interview, Dr. Ivy for 111 Harley St. reveals what sets her services apart in the highly competitive aesthetics and wellness market. She also discusses how she stays ahead of emerging trends while maintaining clinical excellence, the biggest opportunities and challenges in the beauty sector today, and more.

What are the core values that drive Dr Ivy for 111 Harley St. and how are they reflected in the business?

Safety is the top priority in aesthetics and the world of minimally invasive procedures. I always put safety and function first, and beauty and aesthetics second when deciding on treatment plans. I am someone who will optimise your beauty, but also someone who will say no if I feel what’s being requested is not necessary or could be harmful in any way. I always stand for facial optimisation, which involves placing injectables in an anatomically precise way - sometimes less is more. In addition to aesthetic treatments, I work with many patients on medical conditions such as Bell’s Palsy, stroke, and Temporomandibular Disorder.

Dr Ivy for 111 Harley St. won at TheIndustry.beauty awards. In your view, what sets your services apart in such a competitive aesthetics and wellness market?

I think the knowledge and experience I’ve gained internationally set me apart, as preferences and techniques differ across the world. I’m a globe trotter, having worked in Korea, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand in addition to Europe. My work includes training through my Face Academy courses as well as treating patients. What is considered beautiful, and therefore what is important to patients from different parts of the world, varies. While many features of our faces are the same, beauty standards can differ depending on the social aspects of where someone comes from. I’m very grateful for the experience I gained in all the countries I worked in, as it’s given me a broad view of cultural preferences which I use in my work daily.

Each of my treatments is bespoke and created only for an individual patient - for example, I don’t feel that one particular treatment is suited to every single patient, but I do believe that there are certain treatments, such as my Diamond Lips treatment, that can suit most people when done in a geometrically precise way. One of the things that sets me apart is that I understand the way the face moves. I observe my patients and know how to enhance their face while maintaining their unique charm - this is something no one can teach you and is something I used often in my many years working in the movie industry with so many beautiful faces. This helped shape me as a practitioner.

What was the significance of winning the award for Aesthetic Practitioner/Practice?

The market is super competitive, and I’m truly honoured to have received this award, especially as I’ve only been in the UK for six years.

How do you stay ahead of emerging trends while maintaining clinical excellence?

My work at 111 Harley St. includes treating patients, but outside of the clinic, I am involved in research and development with injectables, which gives me a good understanding of emerging products and trends as they come to the market. Because of this, I can often see ahead and understand what will be popular in the future. I love to be informed - I read up on products and techniques and am always following the trends. Working behind the scenes on research and development, staying on top of the latest scientific research, and training all over the world means my treatments are always evolving at the highest level.

What role does innovation play in shaping the services you offer?

This is an industry that never sleeps and is always evolving with new innovations. If you don’t learn new techniques or research advanced treatments or products, you will get left behind. With anti-ageing and aesthetic medicine, there are always new developments that allow practitioners to continually improve their patients’ treatment plans.

What do you see as the next big shift in the aesthetics or cosmetic medicine industry?

I believe the future of aesthetics will be in cellular ageing and DNA. I have dedicated much time to researching stem cells and exosomes. I began in 2006 and truly believe DNA will give us answers about ageing. The answers will be unveiled in the future, and we just need to look more closely at the trends now that have a lot of scientific support.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities and challenges in the beauty sector today?

The biggest challenge today is people who are not properly educated operating within the industry. I believe practitioners should be professionals within their field and educated on products, anatomy, and techniques. If we do something right, we can help patients hugely; however, if mistakes are made, it can destroy their confidence - safety and education are key. Knowledge of the products being used is incredibly important, especially in an industry with so much new innovation where complications can occur if they are not properly used.

What does it mean to be an innovator in the beauty industry today?

I love aesthetics, but it’s not easy being an innovator or pioneer, and you have to have a scientific approach. When I was working with stem cells in Asia, I had to do the research and have the evidence and numbers to prove that they can provide true rejuvenation to the face or neck. Bringing new standards to the market is my mission, and it’s not always easy to bring change, but it’s worth it when I see the results for patients.

What trends are influencing the next wave of innovation in beauty?

The trends I see coming include biohacking. The beauty industry is an extension of wellbeing and health, so a healthy lifestyle, exercise, sleeping well, and preventative measures will all show on our skin. Beauty is a lifestyle rather than a quick fix, as it comes from the inside out.

How do you maintain your position in the industry? What strategies are critical to staying ahead of competitors and meeting consumer demand?

I always feel blessed to work in this industry at the forefront of research and development, where you can see how the industry is going to be shaped. For me, I am always learning and surrounding myself with people who share their knowledge and inspire me.

What can customers expect from Dr Ivy for 111 Harley St. over the next year? Any exciting innovations or new product developments can we expect?

More bespoke treatments. What works for one person won’t work for another, and I will continue to deliver tailor-made treatment plans that work for the individual. They can always expect new treatments; every year I am working on new ideas such as Face Design, 111GlassSkin, Swan Neck, and Hollywood Legs. I am always incorporating new innovations. Patients can always expect safety - this is my priority. Beyond that, I always say my work is a marathon, not a sprint, as we are ageing daily, but small tweaks mean we can always be working on that, and I am forever introducing new ideas for this.

My ultimate goal is to bring my patients confidence and wellbeing and to make them feel wonderful in their own skin.
