TheIndustry.fashion visited London's iconic Oxford Street to see how shoppers reacted to non-essential retail reopening for a the first time this year, with beauty and fashion locations closed since December.

Despite finding large crowds, most stores did not have queues outside. Shoppers returned in greater numbers compared to any reopening last year, with dedicated shoppers visiting stores such as Primark, Zara, Selfridges and JD Sports.

Debenhams saw no queues today, with the store boarded up and not reopening, as the retailer confirmed a select number of stores would reopen to sell off excess stock before permanent closure.

Earlier today, TheIndustry.fashion confirmed the redevelopment of Sports Direct's Oxford Street store, which will be transformed into a Frasers Group multi-brand destination.
