According to recent customer insights released by Thérapie Clinic, one of the UK's biggest laser hair removal clinic groups, its male laser hair removal customer base has grown by 80% since 2022. In response, the group has today announced Conor Murray, a professional Irish rugby player as its first-ever ambassador for male laser hair removal.

Thérapie Clinic is an Irish-owned business founded by Katie McGlade and Phillip McGlade in 2004. Now, it is a purveyor of medical aesthetics treatments delivered by over 1,500 employees in more than 70 clinics across Ireland, the US and the UK.

The clinic said it signed Murray, the accomplished athlete, a Six Nations champion as he "represents the brand’s male customer perfectly".

The increase in male customers shows a shift in the mindset of the modern British man. The most common areas for men to receive laser hair removal are the back and shoulders, hard-to-reach areas with a razor.

Murray is receiving a full course of laser hair removal from Thérapie Clinic in these areas for the same reason as countless other men – to save time on grooming. He can say goodbye to razor burn, ingrown hairs, irritation and shaving.

Conor Murray said: "When I was approached by Thérapie Clinic for this partnership I thought the timing couldn’t be better as I was looking into the treatment after some teammates told me about the benefits. As most people these days, I have a really busy schedule. With training and matches, not to mention a baby on the way, I have less time for grooming. I have been shaving my shoulders, upper arms and upper back for years and have to do it frequently, and to be honest, it’s a pain!

"Laser hair removal is the perfect solution for me. After a few short sessions, I won’t have to think about shaving ever again, which frees up time. Not to mention, the results are just better. No nicks, or post-shave irritation. It’s one less thing to think about and anything that can free up time to focus on the more important things is a must."

Phillip McGlade, Thérapie Clinic CEO, added: "When we delved into recent consumer insights and trends we could see a clear increase in the male customer for laser hair removal. Having clinic teams speak with male clients on why they were getting laser hair removal some of the answers varied from wanting to feel more confident or their partner preferred them to have less body hair, to having skin that didn’t react well to razors causing irritation and generally wanting a more long-term solution.

"...At Thérapie, we have introduced countless treatments to Irish customers, and while we have a growing male customer base for laser hair removal, we believe Conor coming on board will encourage Irish men to invest in themselves when it comes to grooming and will reach a broader customer base for Thérapie."
