Tropic and UWS opens a third school in Madagascar

Sustainable skincare brand Tropic marks three years partnering with United World Schools (UWS) by opening a third school in Madagascar.

Following school openings in Nepal and Madagascar earlier this year, Tropic and UWS opened the doors to a school in Ampandrivotse – a remote, costal area where schooling is significantly sparse.

Research showed that 75% of the Madagascan population live below the poverty line and only 40% of the children complete primary education. The statistics drove the organisation to pay attention to the community and create strategies to provide better futures for its young children.

In 2022 alone, the skincare brand has funded education for over 6,500 children who would otherwise not have access to formal learning. Tropic’s founder Susie Ma established the 10% For The World initiative, pledging that a percentage of all profits will go to charities and planet protecting causes.

Collaborating with UWS is just the tip of the ice berg for Tropic's initiatives. Its cruelty-free and vegan makeup, mama and baby products and skincare ranges boast over 300 award-winning products, double-offsetting emissions by sourcing natural ingredients and committing to recyclable packaging.

Recent triumphs include winning the 'Best Cruelty Free Brand' at Marie Claire's first ever Sustainability Awards last year,  as well as launching the ‘Nice To Meet You’ poster and digital campaign in London's underground to encourage a new generation of sustainably-conscious shoppers.

The carbon negative company aims to create further opportunities for underprivileged communities as well as continuing to give back to the planet, with efforts such as the ongoing cultivation work in the Amazonian rainforest as well as supporting local food banks through the Trussell Trust.
