UpCircle achieves B Corp certification

Circular beauty brand UpCircle has achieved B Corp certification, scoring 96.3 on its assessment.

Administered by nonprofit B Lab, B Corp is a certification that evaluates a brand's social and environmental impact. It covers over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and impact on the environment.

The B Corp certification allows UpCircle to be transparent about how it functions and highlights what it stands for. The brand first began the process in March 2022.

Founded by siblings Anna and Will Brightman, UpCircle brings leftover natural ingredients back to life as skincare products. The brand's waste-fighting formulations are natural, vegan, cruelty-free, palm oil free, plastic negative, handmade and housed in recyclable and refillable packaging.

Anna Brightman, Co-founder of UpCircle, said: "I cannot express how incredible it is to officially be B Corp certified. Out of all the certifications we’ve applied for, we’re most proud to have been verified by B Lab, because to us, B Corp certification is not just about B Corp certification – it’s about our mission to make the beauty industry accessible and responsible.

"To call this a significant endeavour is an understatement. We are looking forward to sharing our sustainable and social attributes through the B Corp movement and inspiring our customers. This is only the beginning."

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, said: "Being able to welcome UpCircle to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Its commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others, and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit."
