Vichy adds eye and lip care to Neovodial menopause range

Vichy Laboratoires has added a new eye and lip care product to its Neovadial range, designed specifically for women in perimenopause and menopause.

The dual purpose product contains Vichy's 'firming duo' of proxylane and cassia extract, along with caffeine, Omegas 3, 6 and Niacinimide to target the fragile skin around the eye and mouth.

Multicorrective Eye & Lip Care is priced at £28 and joins the Meno 5 Bi-Serum(£39) and Plumping Day Cream (£32) in the Neovadial range.

During perimenopause, hormone depletion causes skin to lose both firmness and density, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin tone, as well as loss of radiance. Vichy, which has 20 years of experience in developing products for menopausal skin, has created Neovadial specifically to address these concerns.

The launch of the range has been backed by GP Dr Shahzadzi Harper, founder of The Harper Clinic on Harley Street and an authority on women's health with the perimenopause and menopause being an area of particular expertise. Harper is also the author of The Perimenopause Solution.

Speaking at the launch of the product, Dr Harper explained that dropping hormone levels in perimenopausal and menopausal women can lead to women feeling like they have undergone an overnight ageing process.

"Women talk of a loss of joy," she said. "When they look in the mirror they say they don't recognise the woman looking back. This isn't just a vanity issue, it's a psychological issue."

Dermatologist Dr Mary Sommerlad also explained at the launch that the drop in oestrogen can severely affect the production of collagen, which might explain the feeling of overnight ageing that women feel, as "fine lines can become deeper lines and wrinkles" during this time.

Dr Sommerlad explained that ageing skin and menopausal skin are not necessarily the same issue and that Neovadial's ingredients of Proxylane, Cassia extract, Hyaluronic acid can help compensate skin ageing signs due to hormonal changes.
