Zalando has named Thomas Schwulera as Vice President of Beauty, marking a strategic move to strengthen its position in the European beauty market.

Schwulera joins Zalando from L'Oréal, where he most recently served as Country Division General Manager and Market Director for Switzerland.

Over his long-term career at L’Oréal, he also held several key regional leadership roles across Germany.

Announcing his new role in a recent LinkedIn post, Schwulera said: "I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Zalando as Vice President Beauty.

"Zalando occupies a unique space in the beauty market. Our outstanding logistics network delivers unmatched convenience to more than 52 million customers across 26 European markets.

"With our cross-category model, customers can seamlessly shop for beauty alongside fashion, sports, and lifestyle - all in one destination.

"Our dedicated beauty team is redefining the shopping experience by combining a curated selection of top brands with a strong focus on inspiration and entertainment."

Reflecting on his first weeks at Zalando, Schwulera described them as "incredibly energising," highlighting the recent Beauty Partner Event at Zalando’s Experience Hub in Berlin as a standout moment.

"It was fantastic to connect with colleagues and industry leaders. Our strategic discussions reinforced a shared commitment to accelerating growth in the European beauty sector," he said.

Looking ahead, Schwulera’s priorities will include strengthening partnerships, enhancing product curation, leveraging technology for personalisation, and developing engaging content formats.

"I’m excited to collaborate with the talented Zalando team and our valued brand partners to build Europe’s most exciting beauty destination," he concluded.
