Dyson launches new hairdryer exclusive to professional stylists

Dyson keeps hitting the jackpot with its hair tools. From Airwraps to hair dryers, the electronics brand is consistently on wish lists. Now, during fashion month, the brand is capitalising on its ever-growing momentum with a new precision hair dryer - the Dyson Supersonic.

Yes, Dyson already makes a hair dyer. So what makes this one different? According to the brand, the Supersonic is "Smaller. Lighter. Fast drying. With no heat damage".

There has always been an element of exclusivity when it comes to purchasing a Dyson hair tool, whether that be its high price point or constantly sold-out style. However, this time, the brand takes exclusivity up a notch by making professional stylists the only ones able to get their hands on the hair dryer this March.

The Dyson Supersonic is not only light and small, it is also the brand's most precise styling tool enabled by power-dense technologies – a new technology streamlined heater.

It also features a Dyson Hyperdymium motor and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors in each attachment to communicate with the hair dryer, automatically adjusting the motor and heater to deliver optimal airflow and temperature.

This new tool will not only give professionals the ability to execute amazing work but at high speed and the highest quality."

Since 2017, Dyson surveyed and interviewed 696 stylists to understand their environment, habits and needs. For example, strain-related injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome are highly prevalent across the stylist community. These insights informed the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, providing professionals with an "agile and adaptive" tool that responds to real-world demands.

Gavin Galligan, Senior Design and Development Manager, Dyson Beauty, said: "The Dyson Supersonic Professional hair dryer builds on the technology and knowledge we have developed, offering fast drying and styling benefits for all hair types with no heat damage. Our new streamlined heater technology developed for this machine is a world-first, combined with our high-speed motors enable the lightweight form factor and fast precise airflow."

Just like the rest of Dyson’s haircare machines, the new launch is equipped with intelligent heat control. What's more, attachments can remember the last used settings, reducing the time required for adjustment.

It is also paired with three precise airflow settings and four heat modes, including constant cold shot, with ergonomically placed controls within a thumb’s reach and LED indicators on the handle.
