Fragrance company Puig has launched a new digital platform dedicated to "all things perfume", called Wikiparfum.

The platform hopes to offer an "educational and innovative tool to make the complex world of fragrance accessible, personal and pleasurable".

Wikiparfum enables consumers to browse, compare and choose fragrances from its online library, which currently features approximately 19,600 scents. The information and recommendations are based on science and perfume expertise to provide accuracy, objectivity and brand-agnostic results.

How does it work?

When consumers create an account with Wikiparfum, they can configure a scent profile based on their favourite ingredients and fragrances.

The platform uses Quadrification, which allows users to visualise a scent and its ingredients. The larger the image, the more dominant the ingredient. If the images are displayed on a black background, the fragrance is more intense, whilst a white background means it's more subtle.

In addition, Wikiparfum classifies fragrances into families and subfamilies, according to their perfume style and character. Puig also uses 'Fragrances of the World', the "largest independent guide to fragrance classification", to enhance the service.

The platform then makes personalised recommendations based on its analysis of each perfume.
