Superdrug to offer NHS COVID-19 booster jabs in 19 UK stores
Superdrug has confirmed it is soon to begin offering COVID-19 booster jabs across 19 of its stores this autumn and winter.
The retail and pharmacy company is to join Boots in supporting the NHS’s COVID-19 booster vaccination programme for those most at risk from the virus, such as the elderly.
Last week, Boots announced its biggest-ever winter flu vaccination programme after seeing a 67% year-on-year increase in appointment bookings.
Those eligible for the booster jab will be contacted privately by the NHS and will reserve their appointment through the NHS national booking site, similarly to how vaccinations have been booked throughout the year.
The full list of stores offering vaccinations is expected to be published shortly.
Michael Henry, Superdrug Healthcare Director, said: “We’ll be supporting the NHS with the rollout of the vaccination booster programme and we’re in active discussions about how we can best help them through further pharmacy and nurse involvement. Making the booster vaccination available on the high street increases its accessibility to the public and offers people the option of having the vaccine given to them by their local pharmacist or nurse who they know and trust.
“With the anticipated increase in vaccination services – COVID boosters and a bigger flu season than normal – our Superdrug nurses and pharmacists are trained and ready to welcome patients to meet the surge in demand this autumn and winter.”
