Sun protection brand Supergoop has appointed Lisa Sequino as its new Chief Executive Officer to further accelerate global growth and product innovation.

Sequino joins the US-based business from JLo Beauty, where she has served as Co-founder and CEO since March 2022.

Prior to this, she spent nearly a decade in leadership positions at the Estee Lauder Companies, overseeing the global strategy and growth for a number of its consumer and lifestyle brands.

She also previously held senior marketing, innovation, sales and M&A roles at Procter & Gamble, focusing on its extensive portfolio of beauty, personal care and wellness brands.

Holly Thaggard, Founder of Supergoop, said: "Lisa brings such super experience and perspective to the table, having built her career scaling and accelerating growth within both established luxury and upstart beauty brands.

"But most importantly, she fully understands and is passionate about our mission, which is to change the way the world thinks about suncream through innovation and inspiration - and ultimately to help stop the epidemic of skin cancer.

"We have only scratched the surface, and Lisa’s energy, expertise, and excitement make her the perfect partner for us as category creators on this global stage as we continue creating a brighter future for all around the world. I am beyond thrilled to welcome her to the Supergoop family."

Founded after her friend was diagnosed with skin cancer in her early 30s, Thaggard created Supergoop to offer a range of skincare and beauty essentials with SPF.

The brand first launched in the UK in 2020 and has products available at Cult Beauty, Selfridges and Net-A-Porter.

Sequino’s appointment follows its significant global expansion across more than 20 new markets in 2023 and the launches of new SPF-infused innovations, including an Unseen Sunscreen Body SPF 40 and Triple Prep SPF 40 Weightless Moisturiser.

"I’ve long admired Holly’s vision, her authentic story, and the category she created nearly 20 years ago with Supergoop. The brand’s mission is a powerful one and they truly shifted consumer behaviour towards daily SPF use," said Sequino.

"This special brand has an incredibly strong infrastructure, passionate brand loyalists and significant reach already, and I’m excited by the tremendous opportunity ahead to further expand its global footprint and bring new innovative products to market.

"I’m thrilled to partner with the team and help shape the next chapter in the Supergoop journey."
