Uoma Beauty, the inclusive makeup brand founded by Sharon Chuter, is at risk of closure by the UK Government as customers say they're not receiving recent orders.

The brand faces being struck off the register and dissolved no less than two months from today, 28 November 2023, according to a 'First Gazette Notice' on Uoma Beauty Group Limited's Companies House.

The full notice reads:

"The Registrar of Companies gives notice that, unless cause is shown to the contrary, the Company will be struck off the register and dissolved not less than two months from the date shown above [28 November 2023].

"Upon the Company's dissolution, all property and rights in, or held in trust for, the Company are deemed to be bona vacantia, and will belong to the Crown."

It comes as Uoma Beauty Group Limited's accounts are months overdue, according to another warning on its Companies House profile.

The next accounts made up to 31 December 2022 were due by 30 September 2023, with the last accounts made up to 31 December 2021.

Uoma Beauty

Uoma Beauty is an inclusive cosmetics brand, known for its bestselling Say What?! Foundation, Badass Icon Matte Lipstick, Drama Bomb Extreme Volume Mascara and Stay Woke Concealer, amongst other products.

The business was founded by Nigerian born, Los Angeles and London based former beauty executive, Sharon Chuter in 2019.

However, Chuter stepped down as chief executive and from the company's board in June 2023 after five years at the beauty brand’s helm.

Following Chuter's departure, Uoma Beauty's recent operations and external communications are said to have stopped, and the brand hasn't updated its Instagram profile - which has 181K followers - since August 2023.

Comments under its Instagram posts are now flooded with customers claiming they haven't received their orders and can't access assistance from the team.

One customer said: "I ordered some lipstick from your website and I’m have not received it yet. I ordered over a week ago. I’ve reach out to your company multiple times and have not heard back at all. There has been no information on whether my order was even shipped… yet you have charged my card."

Meanwhile, another customer said: "It's a shame that you're continuing to take money from customers when you clearly have no intention of shipping the products. These comments go back weeks and many people have been waiting on their order for a month or more. I filed a chargeback with my bank today."

Uoma Beauty's website is still open, but sales of the brand's products via various other retailers have been marked down. This includes Lookfantastic, which is selling its £29.50 Say What?! Foundation for £5.90.
