Unilever has joined a number of global brands in sponsoring the launch of Snapchat's first content accelerator platform, helping advance diversity, equity and inclusion.

Titled 523, the initiative aims to champion small, minority-owned content creators by featuring inclusive premium shows with additional BIPOC and LGBTQ+ talent.

Joining sponsors including Nissan, Target, Uber Eats and McDonald's, Unilever will sponsor part of the program which allows participants to connect with these brands and offer their time and resources.

Starr Nathan, 523 Program Manager at Snap Inc, Snapchat's parent company, said: “The voices of underrepresented groups have long helped shape mainstream culture, yet these creative minds often don’t see the equitable benefits from their impact.

“If you want to make a real change, you have to embed equity in the business. That’s why we are designing tailored workshops, providing funding and helping participants build sustainable businesses.”

The deadline for the content accelerator platform is 1 February 2022, with the 20 participants being selected by 1 March 2022.
