Clinical skincare brand Murad has partnered with international recycling firm TerraCycle on a packaging recycling programme.

Murad is aiming to divert its packaging waste from landfills and transform them into new recycled products. The new programme will include packaging of its tubes, bottles, tubs, jars and containers - as well as caps and pumps.

Customers can participate in the programme by signing up on the Murad or TerraCycle websites, downloading a pre-paid shipping label and posting empty Murad packaging. Once the empty wrap is collected and cleaned, it will be melted into hard plastics that can be remould to make new recycled products.

For every shipment of packaging sent to TerraCycle participants can earn points that can be used for charitable gifts or converted to cash and donated to a non-profit organisation. The new programme is part of Murdad's goal to reduce its virgin plastics by 50% by 2025, as well as diverting £750,000 worth by 2025 and £1.25 million by 2030.

Dr. Murad said: "Today, consumers understand more than ever the importance of sustainability. It has been my life's work, and the foundation of Murad, to help people attain healthier skin and happier lives.

"Through our newly founded partnership with TerraCycle, we further strengthen this pledge by providing easy steps to help our community support the health of our planet. Because wellness for the planet is just as important as wellness for the people."
