Dr. Organic receives COSMOS certification

Dr. Organic has revealed it is now the "UK's largest COSMOS-certified skincare brand", building on its mission to be "as honest and transparent with the consumer as possible". 

The COSMOS Organic certification by Soil Association is the "gold standard" for health and beauty. It encourages businesses to use sustainably-sourced organic ingredients, transparent manufacturing processes, and minimal packaging with maximum recycled content, whilst protecting wildlife and biodiversity.

Paige Tracey, Soil Association’s Business and Development Manager, said: “To be certified by Soil Association COSMOS Organic means you have committed to your formulations having both a minimal and positive impact on the planet, both in the way the ingredients are grown and at the end of the product lifestyle.

"We review every single ingredient that goes into a product and inspects the manufacturing and storage facilities to ensure they meet strict environmental criteria."

Dr. Organic products will now carry the COSMOS logo on its newly redesigned recycled packaging.

The brand is also working with Lignaverda and Ecologi, both help businesses create impactful climate solutions. As part of this, Dr. Organic is offsetting carbon by planting trees. To date, it has planted over 25,000 trees, which has avoided 450 certified tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Victoria Harrison, Brand Director at Dr. Organic, said: “We want to be as honest and transparent with the consumer as we can be and what better way is there than certifying to the highest organic standard.

"That’s not to say there won’t be additional certifications in the future with regards to sustainability – we’ve worked incredibly hard on our new ocean-bound plastic packaging that’s prevented over 41 tonnes of plastic entering the world’s oceans every year and would like to ensure that all of our packaging utilises existing recycled materials rather than new. Our COSMOS certification is simply another step in the right direction for us."
