Nicki Minaj branches into beauty with press-on nail business
Nicki Minaj is the latest A-lister to venture into the business of beauty, following the likes of success stories Rihanna and Selena Gomez, with the launch of her press-on nail business.
'Pink Friday Nails' is the rapper-turned-beauty-mogul's latest endeavour. It was created in collaboration with the artist’s longtime nail technician Yvett Garcia, who put her two cents in when designing the range.
Minaj was inspired to create the label after giving birth in 2020, when she realised how time-consuming it sit and get her nails done.
Launching with 40 customisable styles - from minimal coffin-shape nails to maximalist almond-shape nails - the brand caters to nail needs of all shapes, sizes and lengths. Each set claims to last up to two weeks of wear.
In a statement from the brand, it explained it aims to bridge "the gap between inexpensive brands with lower-quality and low-fidelity designs, and custom sets sold by nail artists on social media for hundreds of dollars".
Each style has a clever name that references the rapper's lyrics, such as 'starship chromes' and 'pardon my French'. What's more, they have all been inspired by Minaj's nail designs or outfits she's been seen photographed in.
Available in the UK on pinkfridaynails.com, prices start at £15 and go up to £32 for limited edition designs that feature as many as 400 gems.
If there's one thing celebrity beauty brands have taught us, there is serious money to be made in the cosmetics industry. Earlier today, it was revealed that Selena Gomez is reportedly weighing the sale of her viral cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty after it was valued at £1.58 billion ($2 billion). Though some, such as Hailey Bieber, Rihanna and Selena Gomez hit the jackpot, others have struggled to compete, think Ariana Grande’s R.E.M and Lady Gaga's Haus Labs.
