Luxury beauty brand Rituals Cosmetics has achieved B-Corp certification, marking a new stage in the brand's transformation towards a more purpose-driven business model.

Administered by nonprofit B Lab, B Corp is one of the most demanding certifications that evaluates brands’ social and environmental impact, with over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and impact on the environment.

Currently, there are over 4,000 B Corps in 153 industries and 77 countries around the world. Those with the certification are considered by B Corp to be part of the "global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy."

Following this certification, Rituals has set out additional goals across three main areas: considered, conscious and caring.

Within these areas, the brand's goals include refining its GHG emissions targets to align with the scale of reductions required by The Paris Climate Agreement, leading the brand to net-zero. Along with using 90% origin formulas by 2023 and packaging that’s either refillable, recyclable or made of recycled materials by 2025.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2000, Rituals is a global brand with over 870 stores in over 33 countries. Inspired by the wisdom and ancient traditions of Asian cultures, Rituals creates luxurious yet affordable products for home and body.

Raymond Cloosterman, Founder of Rituals Cosmetics, said: “I’m beyond proud to have earned the B Corp Certification as a brand that truly fosters a sustainable future. At Rituals we strive to keep doing more and going further for people and planet, so we are truly honoured to join a global movement of responsible organisations that want to accelerate progress on the shared challenges we face.”
