The British Beauty Council has named British model Kate Moss as its new Global Ambassador as it looks to strengthen its global presence.

The appointment was first revealed during an opening event for British Beauty Week 2023 this morning, where a number of brands, consumers, press and policymakers gathered to kick off the council's annual celebration.

Founded in 2018, the British Beauty Council is a not-for-profit organisation that represents the wider industry by generating conversation to tackle issues facing the beauty industry.

The appointment of Moss hopes to increase engagement with the British Beauty Council's work on a global scale.

"I'm really grateful to Kate for joining us. It's really important for us to platform who we are on a global scale," said Millie Kendall OBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council.

"Having worked in the industry for many years, I've come to learn that beauty is more than skin deep. By joining the council, I hope to encourage new talents so that others may enjoy this exciting industry," revealed Moss in a video streamed during the event.

As one of the best known faces in British fashion, Moss rose to fame in the 90s and has since diversified her career building a brand around her iconic image and industry experience.

She has partnered with various beauty brands over the years, including as an ambassador for Rimmel London.

Last year, Moss also launched her own beauty and wellness brand - Cosmoss - which is inspired by her new-found focus on self-care and deep-rooted sense of spirituality.

The move follows the appointment of Bobbi Brown as the British Beauty Council's first-ever US Ambassador.

Brown was selected for her "unique industry insights to support and grow brands and beauty experts she believes in".
